“The birds of the air,
and the fishes of the sea
are beneath the Lord’s care”
but I kill the ants
because it pleases me;
the creepers eat countertop negligence,
but we humans have mens, in our defense,
to name the low tier of beauty and worth
of these instinct coils that shift ‘cross the earth;
these crunch ‘neath our thumbs, fingers and toes
while we are half-minding our Netflix binge shows.
